Here's a little preview for the upcoming next chapter, A Matter Of Trust:
“What’s going on?” Agnes knew that their friendship now allowed her to poke at her. “The wedding is in a couple of weeks. The baby is doing great. The business is booming. You should be walking on air,” she told her tentatively.
This time Maddie did nod. “Yes, you’re right, Agnes,” she agreed. “And I know that, but – well…” She didn’t know how to tell Agnes her fears without sounding doubtful and anxious. But she was doubtful and anxious even though her brain told her she was being ridiculous she couldn’t stop the jealousy raging through her body.
“Well?” Agnes inquired.
“I hate that David is working at Richie’s bar.” Maddie blurted out and then pushed her hair off her forehead. “I know he is doing it to help his brother, but a tiny part of me thinks he may be having fun.”
Agnes gave Maddie a clueless look. “And fun is wrong?”
“When its around other women you’re damn straight it is!” Maddie replied sharply.
